We left before the sun came up to get to Hollywood Studios for Extra Magic Hours. (EMH is when the gates open early and exclusively for guests staying at Disney resorts.) With The Force Awakens opening in theaters only 5 days later, we knew the Star Wars activities in the park would be crazy busy and we needed to ensure Miles was able to participate in the Jedi Training Academy. I think we walked into the park by 7:20 am, which was a miracle and also really stinking early. It paid off and we got him signed up for the first show of the day at 9:40 am.
The trainees were taught the ways of The Force by Jedi Knights.
Then, the tomb opened up to reveal their trial opponents.
Miles was so brave.
We know of a man who brought his son to participate and the kid straight up pee'd his pants when Darth Vader walked out of the tomb.
It's the real deal.
At one point, as I was videoing the show, Darth Vader walked straight toward me. He stopped, scanned the crowd, and pointed.
I remember thinking "Emmett is sitting over there on Britton's shoulders.....is Darth Vader pointing at HIM!!?!?!"
So I panned over with the camera and sure enough...
Emmett was using his Sorcerer Mickey powers "to defeat him". The moment caught on video should be used for Disney marketing and promotions. He BELIEVED in his abilities in that moment.
Just when we thought the battles were over and the bad guys had retreated, more excitement...
After the show, Miles received a certificate authorizing him to continue his Jedi training and Britton took him to build a custom light saber at Watto's Grotto.
There aren't too many kids in the world who got to battle sith lords 5 days before The Force Awakens opens in theaters. It's the perfect thing to catapult an ultimate level of nerdness going forward as a family. Britton and I were admittedly jealous of his experience and wish they had this available for grownups.
