box day.

It took a couple of days, but we finally had time to sit down and go through all our new school stuff!  I think in the homeschool world they call this "box day".  It's when you get your box of curriculum for the new year and honestly, it's a lot more fun and exciting than it sounds.  "Box Day".  Seriously?  I'm going to come up with something else to call it.  Just not right now.  My brain is fried.

After months and months of reading information online, praying, looking through my friends' stuff and trying to decide what in the heck we were going to use for schooling these kids at home, we went with Sonlight curriculum.  Many of our friends have used it and love it.

It's structured in that each days work is completely mapped out for you.
Which appeals to my first born, list-making, type-A personality.

It also allows you to tweak, change, manipulate, throw out and do whatever the heck you want with it.
Which appeals to the hippie in me.

Because we're a little bit business...

And a little bit party around here...

But all the books are on the shelf now.

And we couldn't be more excited (nervous) for this adventure!

Kindergarten, here we go!!!!

a good & busy day.

I've been careful not to overbook myself in these months following Emmett's birth.
It's taken me YEARS to learn how to say "no" to things.  I'm still learning.
I just wanted a slower pace for the summer.
Plus, it's crazy carting these three little people that I love so much around in the heat.
We all sweat to death and get cranky (mostly me).
But today was a full day, and for good reason.
My dear friend, and Miles' art teacher held her new studio grand opening today.

There were flowers to be delivered, food to be prepped, cookies to be made, kiddos to wipe, nurse, dress, feed...you know the drill.  I actually only had three important things to do for the opening, but I felt like I had planned, orchestrated and pulled off a full blown wedding celebration by the end of it all!  That's the difference in having 2 and 3.  It's just that much more difficult to accomplish your stuff.

For instance, these boxes came today.
Our new school curriculum.
We've been SOOOOOO excited for it to arrive.

But we didn't even break the tape on the box because we just flat ran out of time!

Also, I mixed up some sugar cookie dough last night and we rolled out the first of two batches around 9:00 am this morning.
It took me until 5:15 pm to get the cookies finished.

That does not seems like a normal amount of time to make and decorate cookies.

But the day was a success.
Leanne had standing room only at the opening, the food was great, the flowers were perfect, the kids had a super fun time and my heart it full.
And freakin' tired.

paint = smiles

The kids have been snotty and sickly of late.  So we pulled out some paint to pass the time and put some smiles back on their faces...

Works every time.

three.

Sometimes I look up.
And there are three little people.
They are entirely dependent upon me.

And they all came out of my body.
And I can't really process it.
I just look at them.
Where did you come from???

big boy toy.

I put Emmett in his exer-saucer thingy today for the first time.

He was mesmerized!

We've got a big boy on our hands!

a princess, her doll houses, and brothers.

Ella has a couple of doll houses.  She's starting to really play out long stories with them.  She sets them up like a neighborhood.

This was the first time I've noticed her paying such attention to detail with her story.

I just want to remember this...

Across the room, her brothers were having a little guy time.

These three are the most fun ever!
