I went all out.
Not only did I finish the
fabric garland for Ella, I took pictures of her whole room to give you a tour.
(Won't take long....it's not very big.)
So please fasten your seat belts, keep your hands and feet inside the car, place your seats and tray tables in their upright positions....
Here's a tour of Miss E's room.
Ella's name has great meaning. I've shared with you before that her name, Elizabeth Lenore, is a combination of heritage from both sides of her family. In that same spirit, I wanted the things in Ella's room to have special significance (even if only to me).
The fabric in the embroidery hoops is my collection from over the years....
The button's I used as accents in the room are from a collection of Grandma Buss'. Thanks to Heather (B's sis) for sharing.... The jar of button's she inherited from her Grandma is one of her most treasured possessions.
Even the little blue rick rack belonged to Britton's Grandmother.
The pink frame is from a mirror that belonged to my Great Aunt and then hung in my mom's room when she was a little girl.
It was gold. I spray painted it pink and then antiqued it a bit.
My sis garage sal-ed the Snoopy/Lucy book. Because it's pink. And because I'll always have a place in my heart for Snoopy.
This quilt is very old. My mom acquired it from a dear lady she worked with when we had our antique shop in Pauls Valley. I was glad it never sold... I packed it away when the shop closed down and hoped for a little girl.
I forgot about it until we moved in to this house. E's room was already painted, and when I pulled the quilt out of a box, I was thrilled to see how perfectly it matched!
I garage sal-ed this cross stitch piece for $2. It's part of the prayer I said every night as a little girl and the one I say with Miles now. I have very distinct memories of praying with my dad every night that he came to tuck me in (followed by a duet of The Bear Necessities a la the Disney soundtrack cassette tape). I also had a copy of this prayer hanging above my bed.
I'll never forget the Christmas that my mom gave me this Lion King mobile. It was probably Christmas of 200...3. I opened a baby's mobile. And Britton looked at me like there was something I hadn't told him. And I looked at Britton like there was something he hadn't told me. And we all looked at my mom like she was crazy. (No kids in sight at that point, peeps.) She wanted to make sure and buy it in case we never found one again. I'm so glad she did. It IS my favorite Disney flick.
Oh, and here's the lovely fabric garland I promised.
I think it turned out cute! Now I want to make and hang garland in every room of the house. For every holiday, every season, every color palette, every, every THING!
Lastly, here's a cool story about Ella's beautiful crib....
Miles' crib belonged to our friends, the Mackey's. It's such a NICE crib. We traded them a Cannondale road bicycle for the crib when I was pregnant with Miles. Good trade I think.
It has this fantastic drop down gate that I l-o-v-e. And it converts to a toddler bed and then a twin.
Anyway, when we were planning for E's arrival, I just couldn't imagine having a crib of lesser quality. Miles is still sleeping in his crib, so I knew we needed another one, but wasn't willing to fork over the $700+ for a new one like what we had.
Craigslist to the rescue!
A couple of weeks before E was born, having searched Craigslist for cribs a million times, I came across THE IDENTICAL CRIB located in Blanchard! And for $200, thank-you-very-much.
God is good!
And so was Papa Ed, 'cause he bought it.
So, thank you for joining us today. Please exit to the right, don't forget to tip your tour guide, and come again soon.
