Only a few words needed to adequately describe today.
Slept late.
Madagascar.
Doctor's appointment in Ada.
2 hour wait.
Knitting.
Baby girl's heartbeat.
George Foreman.
Chicken, bacon, ranch.
Pajamas.
Need I say more?
Ok, but just one quick story...
When I was pregnant with Miles, I had an unusual attraction to ketchup.
Lots and lots of ketchup.
This is all I'm saying.

Today, I'm endorsing Rachael Ray.
Not only does she hang with my people, she saved dinner tonight.
It was kind of a crazy afternoon. Miles didn't wake up from his nap until 4:30pm, and I had 50 errands and things to do before practice at 7:00pm. So I was all about the 30 minute meal.
If you want the recipe, you can grab it off her website by clicking here:
LEMON POPPY CHICKEN WITH SWEET PEA & MINT COUSCOUS
My Pioneer Womanish attempt at the "cast of characters"...

I highly recommend it. Both my boys (the big one, and the little one) eat it with no complaints. It just might save your hectic day.

Just so you know, it's very trendy to zest your lemons and grate your garlic with one of these babies. Merry Christmas to me, love my mom. Now I'm totally awesome.

Plates up really nicely, don't you think?

I should have taken a photo of the "after"....once he tossed the spoon and went at it with his fingers. Not so pretty then.
I wished my glass of water was a glass of wine for the entire 2.5 minutes I sat to scarf my food down.

Got to play in the ice today. Miles was not afraid to take off running. I, however, was. Especially with my camera in tow.

***

My mom stopped by for a second and I threw Miles in the car with her while I ran in to get something. I came out to this.
They are actually driving down the icy street. He's really looking to see where he's going though...

When Britton calls home, Miles freaks out trying to get the phone from me. He's always been a little bit obsessed with phones. And many people have given us their old cell phones to play with.
At one point this week, he had four cell phones and our cordless phone lined up on the couch and was standing there saying "da-yee?". He just loves his Da-yee.

Nothing much going on here today. We're stuck in the house. It's icy!
Deuce & CJ were only interested in the ice long enough to run to their food bowls. I'm sure they'd appreciate it if I brought those in the nice warm house too.
Miles isn't sure about all the white stuff.
He thinks it's strange. He reached out once and touched the window and then said "cold...brrrr". We've been learning that when it's cold, you don't have to blow on it. (You know, like when his food is hot....for some reason, he looks outside when it's cold and blows... i dunno.)
Maybe we'll venture outside to play when the sunshine pokes it's head back out. Then he'll see that it's fun! Till then, it's just a little too frigid, not to mention ice is still falling.
Now, off to do very important things like make the Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler.
F.
PS - Nobody tell my mom that I went outside to take pictures. She's concerned my big fat pregnancy self will fall on the ice. **wink, wink**

This week is use-the-things-in-your-cupboards week. Which means I'll be attempting to not go to the grocery store at all (unless we run out of milk or bananas) and use only the random things already in my possession to create meals.
Have you ever done this sort of thing? I find it challenging and a bit fun. What kinds of things have you concocted?
We'll call tonight's dinner Black Eyed Pea Gumbo.
Ingredients:

Ingredients:
- dry black eyed peas
- brown rice
- diced tomatoes
- frozen collard greens
- celery
- onion
- garlic
- S&P and some cajun seasoning

Turned out pretty good if you ask me. Miles and I ate the heck out of it. Mom even came over and enjoyed some too! But I'm pretty glad Britton wasn't home for supper because his face would have probably scrunched up. It's good to do these crazy cooking adventures when he's not around...
Now I'm headed back into the kitchen to clean up and make some banana nut bread for the morning. I like to do things that result in this....

And banana nut bread does it every time.

If this post were to have a soundtrack, as you are reading this sentence, in would fade Right Said Fred with...
"I'm too sexy for this hat, too sexy for this hat...."
Ya feeling me? Get it playin' in your head...
Actually, this didn't go at all like a model shoot. It was more like....
F: "Miles, pleeeeaaaasse wear your hat so mommy can take a picture???"
(hat falls to the floor, again)
M: "Speeeed?"
(in fades Rascal Flatts' "Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long....")
So that's what we did. I plopped him down in front of Cars for the 513th time in his life and gave him a drink of apple juice.

Britton had a horrible headache today after church. So, our friend Jessica, who gives the most awesome of back rubs - seriously, like a professional - stopped by to help out. Miles was right in the middle of it the whole time. Britton swears he's not been this limber in 5 years. He was even touching his toes. And if I could only train Miles to give back rubs like Jessica, I'd be set for life... (in fades Cinderella singing "A dream is a wish your heart makes....) or at least until he's 18... or maybe 12... oh, who am I kidding?

OK. The title of this post is a lie. It's actually 12:04 am....that makes it Sunday morning. And in just a few short hours I must be awake again.
Saturday morning began a long, long time ago...
with blueberry pancakes.

It's really not a very good picture. That ball of yarn is a pathetic model. But I'm too tired to care. I'll post a pic of the kid wearing it tomorrow.
Sleep tight. (you're already asleep, I'm the only idiot up right now....I even looked on Facebook....nobody's up.)

Saturday morning began a long, long time ago...
with blueberry pancakes.

It was fun. And tasty. And remarkably, not too messy.

Then there was cleaning and showing the house this afternoon.
And a swim party, to which my hubby would not let me take my camera. But man, did Miles have fun! And so did this big ol' pregnant girl. Remember that movie Free Willy?
And when we got home we were all so tired. I got Miles down easily. Britton fell asleep on the couch before 10pm. In fact, he's snoring so loud right now I can hardly think.
And I....
Well, I'm am a crazy, obsessed, compulsive, determined knitting fool. And here it is, after midnight. I'm still exhausted, but dadgumit, I'm going to show you the hat.
I had to ask a ball of yarn to model it for me because Miles has been asleep for hours. And though I contemplated waking him up to try it on, I thought better of it once I went in and saw him sleeping so snugly.
Ta-Da!

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to a post full of randomosity and haphazardness.
Who am I kidding. This whole blog is random every time...
I finished a scarf for my brother. Here he is posing... but his face looked silly, so I cut it off.
The scarf looks good though. He wore it out "on the town" tonight. I was flattered. You must understand that my brother is always very stylishly dressed. And because he was working the scarf, my very own creation, I, by default, am stylish. (Hey, it's as close as I'll probably ever get...)
Now I'm knitting a cutie little hat for Miles, though from the looks of it, I may have to give it to a child with a smaller head. I'll keep you posted on it's progress (like you care about the progress of a hat that I'm knitting, but you are reading this....)
Miles and I ran to Wal-Mart about 5:00pm to grab stuff for dinner. Britton requested burgers and oven fries, and I had none of those ingredients. As I was unloading my groceries, a friend of mine pulled in the driveway and said he might have an interested buyer for the house. Long story short, he and his wife came in to have a look around and, I, in my excitement, dumped Miles and the groceries in the living room and gave a quick tour.
I came back in the living room to find this.....
Today, blueberries were 2 for $6.... AND all over my living room floor.
Who's to blame?

I'm pleased to report that none were irreversibly ground into my rug....
PS - aren't those two cute? Madagascar was on and Britton was trying to get King Julian's voice down. "Let's go meet the pansies!" Miles was just glad his da-yee was home...
While making the trek to Wal-Mart, I realized how cold it was getting. Temps were dropping like crazy around here, and while I'm a great proponent for good-ol'-outdoor-charcoal grilling, I also believe there is a time and place for such fun.
When Britton and I got married, we received a George Foreman grill as a gift. It served us well for over 7 years, but I had to throw it out several months ago because the teflon (black stuff) was beginning to peel off, and well, I didn't want teflon in my burgers.
But tonight, in Wal-Mart, because I was cold, I ventured over to the kitchen appliances aisle. And...

The Lean Mean Grilling Machine was on SALE. Who can argue with that? I'll grill outdoors when it's warm.
You know, I've decided that anyone who names seven of his ten children after himself must be alright. Britton and I are trying really hard to name this baby girl. Maybe we should go with George's philosophy.....
Snuggle up. It's cold outside.

The I Heart Faces contest is fun. (Can anyone teach me how to make a heart? Is it HTML? Maybe I should Google it...)
Didn't win anything last week, but the pic of Miles was displayed in this collage that was featured on the blog... Which I consider a win. :) Bottom row. Cheeks to die for.
As you can see, there were lots of cuties. You should go look.

Reed wasn't too sure of the energy Miles displayed. He would run back and forth from the living room to his bedroom, trying to show Reed everything.
Here, he's trying to get him to follow by grabbing his hand and saying "walk"....
When he wouldn't walk, he tried very hard to convince him that it was a good idea....
Buddies.
We're off to see Madagascar 2 at the dollar theater tonight! Miles' first movie on the big screen...
Do you think they'll let me take my camera in there and flash away? I'll let you know...
