This past week has been crazy at Britton's new job.  It was OBU's Welcome Week, which amounts to a whole bunch of activities for incoming freshman.

The kids and I got to go check him out on the job.  Jami Smith, a christian worship leader, singer, songwriter and recording artist was leading worship at both a morning and evening chapel.  

Now, if you've wondered what it is the Britton does at his new job, this is a big part of it.  You see all the things technical in this picture?  (lighting, sound board, projection system, video switcher, etc...)

He's in charge of making sure they run properly.  It's all brand new.  Just installed in the last month.  Very awesome, state-of-the-art system.  OBU is proud.  Proud enough that they created a new position for someone to manage all of it.  Goodness, we're glad they did.

And for all you OBU-ers from back in the day, wouldn't chapel have been totally awesom-er if it looked like this?  

And just because I think it's cool....

Britton also got to work with Sanctus Reel this week.  I'm pretty sure they rocked everyone's face off with the new system.

PS - Did you OBU-ers know that chapel is cumulative now?  Some seniors don't even have to go!!!  That woulda been nice too.

Kinder Gardens Entry {Week 20.}

I'll start by saying that I didn't get our artwork finished...  Sorry.  I'll shoot for next week's post. 

Cooler temperatures made their way to Oklahoma this week with a major cool down from 103 degrees on Monday to the 80's on Tuesday with 4.5 inches of rain!  So we spent more time outside this week.

Ella looks like she's not happy, but that's her completely-and-totally-content-with-riding-right-here face.  

Miles' "fort" is becoming quite the hideout.  The sweet potato vines have been the perfect thing for it.  They've withstood the heat, drought and bugs.  I'll definitely count on them for covering in the future.  

When we're in our garden space, the little one is the master of escape.  She goes the exact opposite way that I want her to without fail.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful little pumpkin.  

We loved on it every day.  Squishing squash bugs.  Watering.  

It grew to be...

the size of an apple.  

One day, a dad-gum squash vine borer decided to take up residence in this little pumpkin's vine.  

With the vine clearly dead and the little pumpkin feeling a bit squishy, we decided to go ahead and pick it.

It was very "et-citing".

And we were proud of our cute little pumpkin.  

Loved it, in fact.  

We had dreamed all along of sitting the little pumpkin on our front porch.  The pumpkin that Miles grew from seed.  Right next to the mum we've been nurturing since April... from a teeny tiny little start in our flower bed.  

So even though fall is officially still several weeks away, and even though the pumpkin isn't quite as big as I had envisioned, and even though the mum hasn't bloomed, the old chair on our porch proclaims "Bring it, cooler weather!" with the tiny little pumpkin Miles grew from seed.

Kinder Gardens Entry {Week 19.}

We've cleared out much of our garden.  Never having ventured into fall gardening before, we're learning what can be planted now for a cool weather crop.  

We prepared one of the beds for a fall round of bush beans.  Miles had a "digger-digger" in each hand.  He's got some mad gardening skills.  

So does Ella.

If I turn my back for even 2 seconds, this is what happens...

She was so stinkin' proud of herself.  She's had fever off and on all week.  Look at those tired, little squinty eyes.  This was the most fun she'd had all day.

Now that she's officially mobile, I'm sure glad we have a gate on our little garden.  Otherwise, I get alot of this...

She's got so much to running and exploring to do!

When we planted the bush beans, Miles told me each step of the process (without me asking, I might add.) 

"Poke a hole in the dirt.  Put the seed in.  Pat the dirt. Give it water!"  

He's such a pro now.

Inspired by this post from Kirsten, we grabbed up one of our last surviving sunflowers and started on an "Our First Garden" commemorative work of art.  You'll have to stay tuned to see how it turns out, because we're not quite finished with it...

I just used supplies we had.  The canvas was picked up at a garage sale for $1.  

Pretty sure Apple Barrel craft paints aren't what you're supposed to use on an artists' canvas....but oh-well!

Miles really enjoyed the process.  It's definitely something we'll be doing again!  I'll try to finish it up this week and show you what we come up with for the finished product.
