Dear Uncle Justin:

When we have a crawfish boil in Oklahoma, we try our very best to do it just like you would.

We go to 4 different grocery stores in Oklahoma City looking for the exact ingredients you said to get...

We wash and purge our (slightly smaller than yours) crawfish...

 and even use the bag to drain them like a good cajun would...

We play with the crawfish a little bit...

We have corn and potatoes.

And a few snacky things 'cause all this food sittin' around makes us hungry...

We forgot we broke our bottle opener awhile back, so we had to do a little Okie-Macgyvering to get the wine open...

You would have been proud of the effort...

I don't know if you've ever had wine at a crawfish boil, but don't worry.  

There was beer too...

We had to cook our crawfish in more than 3 batches because our pot isn't as big as yours...

But it just made the festivities last longer, so that was good... 

We sucked the heads of every crawfish as to not let any of the flavor waste...

{OK, I lied about sucking the heads of the crawfish.}  

Even though we had trays to go sit down at the table like at Grandma & Grandpa's house...

We ended up just standing around the table, talking, peeling our crawfish and having a good ol' time.  

All of us...

We showed the rookies how to do it...

We encouraged the little ones to try something that seemed a little weird...

The food was tasty, the weather was perfect and everyone had a really fun time...

Especially this one...

She played with the crawfish...

And each time a new batch came out of the pot...

She waited like a baby bird for us to peel them and put them in her mouth...
