It's been an interesting few days.

Miles - my otherwise perfect child *wink, wink* - has decided 2 1/2 is the perfect age to say "no" 468 times a day.  "No" to everything I ask of him.  "No" to breakfast.  "No" to toys.  "No" to changing his diaper.  "No" to his socks.  "No" to riding in the car.  "No" to EVERYTHING.  Even the stuff he really means to say "Yes" to...

"Did you have a good nap?"
"No."
"Do you want a chocolate chip muffin?"
"No"
"Do you want to watch Thomas?"
"Nope"

I'm assured that "it's just a phase", but...

Good. Grief.

As a mother, I've welled up with tears countless times this week at this strange new emotion that kinda makes me want to box my baby boy.

Mrs. Hardhead?  Meet your offspring.

So, remembering an episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight from a few seasons ago (back when it brought me joy instead of heartache and drama) where Kate had a "time out" mat, I went online in search of this...

In the spirit of handmade things, I thought I'd try to create my own mat.  Maybe I could make one using two different fabrics...  One side would be for "time out" and the other would be something that would make Miles happy.  So he can turn it over when "time out" is over and know I still love him.

Off I go to Hancock Fabrics....
