STORY #1:
Monday, some friends of ours came over to spend the day. We snacked on tomatoes and cucumbers....ALL DAY. It offset the ice cream that we also ate all day. My heart was glad to see that Titus (5 years old) was actually lovin' produce from our garden.
Tuesday morning, his mom messaged me this:
Fair Warning: T is making cookies right now to bring over in his attempt to haggle for tomatos and cucumbers "grown from the ground".
Let me just tell you, as much fun as it is to give away your produce to grandparents and neighbors, there's a whole other level of joy in having a 5 year old ask if I might be willing "to trade some homemade cookies for some more tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden".
So out to the garden we went. Miles had prepared a sack for Titus to fill...
***Please excuse my child who never seems to be wearing any clothes. My excuses are 1) he just got up from a nap, 2) we're still potty training and 3) it's 90+ degrees outside.***
Miles (3), Titus (5) and Duke (1) had a blast filling their sack full of loot. Too bad Ella was snoozing. She would have enjoyed it too.
I'm pretty sure Titus has plans for a garden next summer.
Another couple of cute kiddos playing in their garden sounds like a winner to me.

STORY #2:
I don't know much about cucumbers.
But when we pulled this one out from it's hiding place yesterday, we all cracked up.
It's ginormous.
And you wouldn't think that in a 4'x8' raised bed you could hide much, but....
...There was another one.
Happy gardening!
**Head on over to The Inadvertent Farmer to see what others are doing in the contest this week.**

Oh my goodness... Titus looks SO much like his Daddy! Noah, who is sitting on my lap right now, informed me, "Big Boy is friend. Two boys friends. House."
The cucumbers that we've harvested so far look like those... and {unfortunately} were just a little bitter. I wish my garden was looking that good and producing that well!
Oh my...like your own little farmer's market for friends!
Those cukes are so BIG...love the photo of your son cracking up over it, lol! Kim
Oh my gravy! Those cucumbers ARE ginormous! WoW! I love this post. You are certainly doing your part to spread the knowledge and joy of gardening to little ones.
This post really makes me want to plant some cucumbers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cucumbers.
I might just have to find a spot for some, sooner than later.
Blessings

What a great story! If we had more purple green beans, maybe Matthew could share his too. Those are some huge cucumbers.
